Great American Cleanup

March 1 - May 31

Keep America Beautiful’s Great American Cleanup in Arkansas takes place each spring from March through May and is the nation’s largest community improvement effort. Thousands of volunteers, including students, work together to clean up and enhance their communities, making the state a more beautiful place to live, work, and play.

Once a community signs on to host a Great American Cleanup in Arkansas event, KAB will work with that community to organize and publicize the effort. KAB will provide volunteers with trashbags, gloves, safety vests and T-shirts. Promotional materials available to communities include flyers, customizable news release, volunteer stickers and educational resources. The KAB Facebook page and website are also available to coordinators to promote their events.

During the 2024 Great American Cleanup in Arkansas, 17,163 volunteers worked more than 102,978 in communities across the state, cleaning up and improving over 608 public spaces in all 75 counties. This community improvement effort involved 612 events, with volunteers collecting 626 tons of litter from 758miles of roadways, 109 miles of waterways and shorelines, and 1,632 acres of parks and public areas!

Arkansans also recycled 4,672 tires and 648 tons of bulky waste and litter.

The total economic value of the 2024 Great American Cleanup to Arkansas communities was $3,733,261.15.

Keep Arkansas Beautiful is excited to participate in Keep America Beautiful’s nationwide initiative, the Greatest American Cleanup, in 2025 and 2026.
