Des Arc Animal Control participated in Central Arkansas' biggest Multi-Shelter Adoption event this past weekend. It was a success! Thanks to our Animal Control officer, Karmen Sutton, and Amy Patterson with Smith's Friends Animal Rescue, Des Arc was able to find forever homes for some great pups.
"Arkansans came from near and far to the Arkansas State Fairgrounds, eager to welcome hopeful pets into their new families.
This was the Multi-Shelter Adoption's first year in action with over 40 dogs being adopted just two hours into the event. The Best Friends Animal Society was able to gather 14 shelters and rescue groups to bring their canines for people to meet.
According to the Best Friends Animal Society, many shelters in Arkansas are either at or over capacity, making adoptions even more important here in the state to lower the rate of animals killed per year.
The day ended with well wishes for every dog.
Over 59 dogs were officially taken home from the fairgrounds." - KATV
