Dedicated to Brother Jim West

Jimmy Gash West of Griffithville, Arkansas died November 27th, 2018. Jim was born June 26th, 1949 in England, Arkansas. He was 69 years old. For 30 years, he was pastor of Faith Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Des Arc, Arkansas. He also served as Cemetery Sexton at Lakeside Cemetery in Des Arc, Arkansas for 26 years.

In 2019, the Des Arc City Council approved the formation of a committee whose mission was to construct a pavilion in Lakeside Cemetery to provide shelter for those attending funeral services. The Committee members were Marilyn Burnett, Butch Calhoun, Jimmy Garth and Ann Guess. A bank account was created for the sole purpose of collecting funds for a pavilion. In total, $36,396.00 was raised for this project.

Construction began in 2021 with Bay Steel Builders having donated the steel building for the project. In 2022, Arrow Construction began the masonry work on the structure.

Saturday, September 2, 2023, the Lakeside Cemetery Pavilion was dedicated to Brother Jim West and the West Family.

Thanks to the community support and the generous nature of many families with loved ones at Lakeside.
